It can be a minefield finding the best contraceptive as there as so many different formulations available. When your teenage daughter requires contraception, it is key that you are fully informed about the suitability of the different options out there and my hope is that this workshop will bring clarity about these different options, their efficacy, and possible side-effects and will help you to choose the best option for your daughter.

I will provide an overview on the different options suitable for teens – condoms, the combined pill, NuvaRing, transdermal patch, and then moving on to long-acting formulations such as the 12-weekly injection (rarely used nowadays), the Implanon (bar) and of course the Mirena and related intrauterine systems.

During this question-and-answer session, I will provide unbiased information on benefits and side-effects – with this understanding, you will be much better equipped to make an informed decision on the best course of action for your girl.
